The National Rail Safety Regulator (NRSR)

Australia now has a National Rail Safety Regulator with responsibility for regulatory oversight across the Australian rail industry in terms of safety. This will include national laws, operational policies and process, planning and reporting, training, education, research and safety promotion, together with overall leadership and co-ordination of regulatory functions.

Rail operators must be compliant with the impending Rail Safety National Law, which began on January 20th 2013.  Sections of this law relate to the competence employees, and particularly of Rail Safety Workers. Any Skills Recognition processes used by RTOs, assessors or employers must not breach competence requirements.
